At the heart of North West England, our Stanlow Manufacturing Complex is transforming into one of Europe’s largest energy transition hubs. As a strategic refinery, Stanlow produces around 16% of the UK’s road fuels, playing a crucial role in the nation’s transportation.
We understand that refining is carbon-intensive, but we are committed to change. Since 2011, we’ve already reduced our CO2 emissions by 22%. Now, we’re setting our sights even higher, aiming for a 95% reduction by this decade.

Reducing CO2 emissions by 95% this decade
Producing 9 billion litres of fuel per annum
100 years of heritage and resilience
As a central pillar of HyNet North West, the UK’s leading industrial decarbonisation cluster, we’re at the forefront of this transformative journey.
The UK Government has recognised our efforts by selecting us as one of two clusters for industrial decarbonisation and its CO2 and hydrogen pipelines will be centred around Stanlow.
By delivering hydrogen, carbon capture, biofuels and infrastructure, EET is building new businesses and transforming old ones, to secure high quality jobs, attract investment in to the North West region, and establish a global blueprint for industrial decarbonisation.
Together, we can create a lower carbon future and that’s why we’re proud to be part of Essar Energy Transition (EET).
